You can delete a child's profile and data, reset your own account, or permanently delete your account, at any time from within the app — all three require a one-time verification code sent to your verified email before anything is removed.
Delete a Child's Profile
In MJ Parent, go to the child's card → Child Settings → Danger Zone → Delete [Child Name]. Enter the verification code sent to your email to confirm.
This permanently deletes that child's data — transactions, goals, wallets, and history.
Reset Your Account
In MJ Parent, go to Settings → Danger Zone → Reset Account. Enter the verification code sent to your email to confirm.
This deletes your Guardian profile and all data for children you created (transactions, goals, wallets, and history), along with your Family memberships, Challenges, and Auto Transfers.
Your sign-in credentials remain active after a Reset Account, so you stay signed in and can start fresh with a blank account.
Delete Your Account
In MJ Parent, go to Settings → Danger Zone → Delete Account. Enter the verification code sent to your email to confirm.
This does everything Reset Account does, and also permanently removes your Money Journey sign-in identity. You will be signed out and would need to create a brand new account to use Money Journey again.
Requesting Deletion by Email
If you would prefer not to use the in-app options, or want your sign-in identity removed as well, contact us at privacy@moneyjourney.co.nz.
Please provide the email address associated with your Money Journey account so we can verify and process your request.
Data deleted: Account information, including your email address, given name, and child profile names associated with the account.
Data retained: We may retain certain information where required by law or for legitimate business purposes, such as transaction records required for accounting or legal compliance.
We will process account deletion requests within a reasonable period after verification.
